William Hine is pleased to announce the representation of Lindsey Bull. A solo exhibition of new paintings by Bull is forthcoming at the gallery, opening in April 2026.

Lindsey Bull (b. 1979, Hereford; lives and works in Manchester, UK) is a celebrated contemporary figurative painter whose work investigates psychological states, identity and the interplay between reality and illusion. Bull has developed a distinctive practice that foregrounds enigmatic, often costumed figures poised between introspection and performative presence.  Her evocative paintings draw upon the history of fashion, ritual imagery and subcultural or countercultural iconography to capture fleeting moments of expression, offering nuanced reflections on self-presentation and the psyche.

Bull’s work has been widely exhibition both nationally and internationally. Highlights include her debut institutional solo exhibition MIRROR at Huddersfield Art Gallery (2022), selected for The Anomie Review of Contemporary British Painting 3 (Anomie Publishing, 2024), an authoritative anthology of contemporary British painting. Selected solo and duo exhibitions have taken place at Bo Lee Gallery, Bruton, UK (2025; 2023); AllCity, New York, US (2022); Castlefield Gallery, Manchester, UK (2017); Yellow, Varese, IT (2015) and Transition Gallery, London, UK (2012).

In 2025 Bull’s work was acquired for the Manchester Art Gallery Collection and Soho House Collection, as well as belonging to the Kolon Foundation, South Korea and Red Mansion Foundation, UK.
